Meet the Founder
Amma Gyamfowa is a Ghanaian-Canadian womanist, mental health therapist, registered social worker, community researcher, writer and social justice advocate. Engaged in the field of social work for the last nine years, her expertise is rooted in supporting and counselling youth, Black and racialized communities, and survivors of gender-based violence.
Holding a demonstrated history of meaningful program development and research, she has advanced and strengthened the impact of diverse programs and initiatives across the Greater Toronto Area.
Amma is a highly sought after speaker, and has been featured on CBC's Metro Morning, Ontario Morning, She Leads Africa, Fresh Air Radio and the Toronto Star.
As Founder and Lead Clinical Therapist of Womanist Healing, Amma is determined to create empowering holistic resources that strengthen individuals and communities’ ability to heal, thrive and connect.
Womanist Healing offers a wide range of consulting resources to community organizations, institutions and businesses. Through our transformative consulting solutions, we work in collaboration with organizations to improve service delivery, develop intersectional programming, enhance mental health supports and much more.
